About Anne Smith Illustration

My art takes its cues from written forms. The tenets of haiku inspire an approach to blending discrete visual language into a poetic whole. Layers of handwriting echo the presence of voice, while markings lifted from documents provide reference and grounding. My illustrator's eye keens towards graphics and text. Working within the intimate space of the page enables vast energies to compress into something potent and small.
